You can not tell me that, every time you were reading the Bible as a kid and you had to read the part where it says that Adam and Eve were naked, you didn't think that it was weird. I did, believe me, but you know, what's awesome about the Bible ? Is that you only need to keep reading until it makes sense until it reveals itself to you. That usually happens through time, after going through good experiences or bad experiences but one thing is for sure, the bible will always reveal itself the way we need it.
Hide and Seek
And the Lord God commanded the man, “You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.” Genesis 2: 16-17
In conclusion, they had one job, and they messed up. The irony and hypocrisy that some of us read this verse and think "if it was me, I wouldn't have eaten the fruit" sorry to break it to you buddy but yes you would have, we all would because we are all weak in front of sin.
It's rare but available.
Adam and Eve got familiarized with something that was rare, God's presence.
Does it sound familiar? Don't we all take God's presence in our lives for granted at some point?. Where we were so used to it, that we let ourselves get distracted and tempted but the "fruit" and the "serpent". Notice how I just said, "we let ourselves get distracted". Well, the serpent asked Eve a question, and Eve answered. Temptation is always going to be there my friend, knocking on your door, sending you dm's, as a pop-up to websites you shouldn't access, or places you shouldn't be at with people you shouldn't be with. One thing is sure, don't talk to the serpent, talk to God.
Normal routine
Did you know that God had walking sessions through the garden with them? How do we know this? Well, just when they ate the fruit, God as always, went to spend time with Adam and Eve in the Garden, but He "couldn't find them". God is Always present, All-powerful and All-knowing. God knew exactly where Adam and Eve were, but He respected that they didn't want to be found.
God is always looking to spend time with us, but we're the ones playing hide and seek, it's ourselves.
Focus
After Adam and Eve ate the fruit, they feared their nakedness and hid from God. But if we read a few verses before this event, the Bible says that "the man and his wife were both naked, but they felt no shame." What is the difference between these two verses? it was their focus.
Before the fall, their only focus was God, His word/truth, His instructions, and His presence. It wasn't until they listened to the serpent and sinned that fear and shame began to form in their minds. Were they naked? YES, but they used to be covered by God's presence and that's why it was impossible for them to notice that they were actually naked.
The devil can say - your bank account is in -$135, and maybe it's totally true, but if you only focus on that, you'll put at risk your trust in what God told you and promised you. The devil wants you to focus on your present situation to put at risk your promise. God made them two questions, where are you ? and who told you, you were naked? Now, if God knows everything, why would He ask them something? It's simple. He was asking them the question they should be asking themselves. Here comes the question.
Are You Still Naked?
We're all born with a sinful nature, we came into the world naked, vulnerable and helpless. When we give our lives to Jesus, we are clothed by God's glory again. Through the crucifixion and resurrection Jesus Christ redeemed us from our sin, giving us back what we lost, God's presence. The good news is that, we can all be part of it, you just need to give your life to Jesus Christ, and accept him as your Lord and Savior because that's what He is. He is the only one that can give you back what you lost. He can clothe you again with love, peace, forgiveness, and grace.
Whatever your situation is, it might be the truth, but it's not permanent. God will visit you, just like He did with Adam and Eve but don't hide, show yourself just as you are. Humans.
